Jerry D. Murry, age 73 of Malvern, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his home with his sons and daughter-in-law at his side.  He was born in Malvern on January 29, 1949, to the late Orval Murry and Helen Inglis Murry Ward-Miller.  Jerry was stricken with polio at nine months old and endured a lifelong battle, beating all the odds and surpassing every expectation. Reared and receiving his early education in Malvern, he later attended the Arkansas Rehabilitation Services in Hot Springs where he initially earned his certification in office machine repair, and later was certified in small engine repair. As a youngster, he sold Grit newspapers and mowed yards, all while on crutches.  He worked from childhood at his father's service station, Murry's Esso, into adulthood, as a mechanic. In a thirteen-year span, he had 15 surgeries at Shriners Children's Hospital in Shreveport. Jerry never let his physical limitations slow him down: he roofed houses, did carpentry work, cut firewood, mended fences, worked cows, ran a tractor on his father's farm, and built his own custom '67 Chevelle from the ground up!  He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed whitewater rafting.  He went elk hunting in Colorado, despite having to get around on his crutches. Born with a servant's heart, Jerry would go long distances to help a family member or a friend in need.  He lost a leg in 1969 but continued to work.  For many years he escorted Oversize Loads over the nation's highways.  Jerry was brought up in Keith Memorial Methodist Church.

Survivors include his sons, Michael Murry (Lisa) of Russellville and John Murry (Quintessa) of Malvern; his brother, John Murry of Gilmer, Texas; and a sister, Shirley Murry Henry of Glen Rose.
