Jesse Oliver "Joe" Payne, age 64 of the Big Creek community, died Saturday, December 24, 2011, in the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born in Malvern on February 12, 1947 to the late John Sanders Payne and Dorris Armstrong Payne. Reared and receiving his early education in the Poyen schools, he later earned his bachelor of business administration degree from Henderson State University . He was general partner in Payne Woodlands and a stock trader.

Joe is survived by his brother, James R. Payne of Malvern, by two sisters, Elizabeth Hardin and her husband Lon of Hot Springs Village, and Sarah Payne Jines of Little Rock ; and by eight nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Richard Payne and John S. Payne, Jr. and by a sister Martha Lee Payne.

A gathering and memorial for family and friends will begin at six o'clock Thursday evening, December 29, 2011, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

Memorials are requested to the Food For Kids program at the Arkansas Rice Depot, 3801 West 65th Street , Little Rock , AR 72209 , or the Malvern Community Thanksgiving and Christmas Meals, c/o First United Methodist Church , Malvern.
