Joe W. Connelley, age 80 of Malvern, died Friday night in the Hot Spring County Medical Center. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 9 1927 to the late John Patrick and Ada Aunspaugh Connelley. Reared and receiving his early education in Little Rock, he was a graduate of Catholic High School. He later earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He was a United States Army veteran.Mr. Connelley worked for Reynolds Metals Company for 28 years, retiring from the Jones Mill plant as power superintendent. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Malvern where he had served on the Administrative Board. He had also been a board member for the Diamond Lakes Federal Credit Union. Mr. Connelley loved the outdoors and was a member of the Good Sam Travel Club and the 6 & 48 Deer Club.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne Moore Connelley, to whom he was married on June 28,1958 in Hope, Arkansas. He also leaves behind two sons, Dr. Jay Connelley and his wife, Karen of Monticello, and Dr. Jon Connelley and his wife Sandra of Springdale; by his daughter, Jill Connelley Barnett and her husband Mike of Hot Springs; and by four grandchildren, Cole, Katie, Gannon, and Tanner Connelley.

Mr. Connelley was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Laverne Asbury and a brother, John Patrick Connelley.

His funeral will be held on Monday afternoon, October 22, 2007, at two o'clock, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, Malvern, with the Reverends Stephen Wingo and David Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Rockport Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Tim Clark, Mike Ward, Mark Brosius, Hamp Williamson, Matt and Bill Howard, Johnny Ross, and Ronnie Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are: 6 & 48 Deer Club, Russell and Howard Cranford, James Crowder, Kenneth Bradley, Melvin Beason, Ollie D. Caldwell, and Carthel Clark.

The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from four until six o'clock.

Memorials are requested to First United Methodist Church, Malvern.
