Joe L. Green, age 84 of Malvern, died Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born in Malvern on July 25, 1926 to the late J. L. "Sam" and Esther Campbell Green. Reared and educated in Malvern, he was retired from the United States Postal Service. Joe was a United States Army veteran of World War 2, and was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church. He was the widower of the late Lorene Westerman Green, to whom he was married on July 17, 1948 in Malvern. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2009.

He is survived by a son, Mike and his wife Sheila Green of Hot Springs; by two daughters, Marsha and her husband Larry Burris of Malvern and Mona and her husband Ricky Copeland of Maumelle; by a brother, Eddie and his wife Mary Anna Green of Malvern, by two sisters, Carolyn Dean of Little Rock and Judy Englund of Seattle, Washington; by seven grandchildren, Michelle Hill, Sam Green, Amiy Gambrell, Lindsey Thomas, Nicholas Copeland, Tami Green, and Kelli Hernandez; by 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, November 17, 2010, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Dr. F. Gladwin Connell and Reverend LaVon Post officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery with military honors provided by the Thaddeus Carraway Post #2278 Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be: Nicholas Copeland, Nathan Thomas, Sam Green, Keith Green, Jorge Hernandez, Wayne Hill, and Jason Gambrell.

Visitation at J. A. Funk Funeral Home will be on Tuesday evening from six until eight o'clock.

Memorials are requested to the First United Methodist Church, or to the Malvern/Hot Spring County Library.
