Joyce Vantrease Baswell, age 86 of Hot Springs, died Sunday, December 23, 2018.  She was born to the late Badie Vantrease and Mattie Belle West Vantrease on September 24, 1932 in Social Hill.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Bradley, Jimme Miller and rosemary Knight, and one brother, John Vantrease.

Joyce is survived by her son, Steve (Martha) Walker of Hot Springs, and daughter, Ann (Mike) Wooldridge of Little Rock.  She also leaves behind one granddaughter, Westly (David) Chaloupka and three great grandchildren: Lyndon, Madelyn, and John Oliver Albright, and several nieces and a nephew.

She was retired from the Hot Springs Police Department and was of the Baptist faith.

Joyce requested a private family funeral.  The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her, the staff at Garrett Woods Assisted Living, Arkansas Hospice nurses, and Dr. Robert McCrary.
