Joyce Overton, age 83 of Hot Springs, died Sunday, October 31, 2021 at National Park Medical Center. She was born on March 28, 1938 in Benton, Arkansas to the late Bob Pierson and Lessie McBurnett Pierson. Reared and educated in Malvern, she was the wife of Herman Overton. They were married on April 19, 1956 at the home of Brother Labon Sharpe in Oak Grove. Joyce was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to cook for and care for her family, which was always her number one priority.

She is survived by her husband, Herman Overton of Hot Springs; by a son, Roy Overton, and a daughter, Rhonda Overton; four grandchildren, Cameron Deimel, Caleb Deimel, Ashley Overton Guidry, and Kayla Overton Holland; by four great-grandchildren, Connor Deimel, Everly Deimel, Rowyn Deimel, and Hadley Holland; and by a brother, Don Blair of Little Rock.

Joyce was also preceded in death by four children, Van, Robert, Donald, and Tangra Overton, and by a sister, Dortha Gilliland.

Her funeral will be held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon, November 4, 2021, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Donis Smead officiating. Interment will follow in the Lono Cemetery.

A visitation will precede the service, beginning at one o'clock.

Pallbearers will be Dan Blair, Don Holmes, Tommy Overton, Randy Overton, Jacob Guidry, and Raymond Holloway.
