Obituary

Judith Tomlinson Rusch, age 80 of Malvern, died Thursday, December 12, 2024 in Little Rock.  She was born in Lake Forest, Illinois on December 3, 1944, to the late Charles Tomlinson and Florence Fox Tomlinson.  Reared and receiving her early education in Illinois and New Jersey, she later attended Duke University and Drew University, ultimately earning her Bachelors degree in mathematics from Inter-American University in Puerto Rico.  For most of her career, she worked in computer system's senior leadership at both Sears Roebuck and Montgomery Ward. Later she continued as a consultant in systems management for large retail companies. Judy had been a resident of Malvern for three years.  She currently attended First United Methodist Church.  Judy loved travelling, going on cruises, and being with her family.  She had a volunteer spirit, and was very active at the Malvern Senior Center and at her church.  Her life was all about giving:  of her time, her energy and her vibrant spirit. Her life was also about connecting people together and fostering community between family and friends. She loved nothing more than traveling and spending time with friends and family.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Rebecca Rusch of Sawtooth City, Idaho, and Sharon Bannister of Falls Church, Virginia; two brothers, Doug Tomlinson of Waunakee, Wisconsin, and Greg Tomlinson of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; a sister, Pam Tomlinson of Washington, D. C., and two grandchildren, Kira Bannister and Haley Bannister; and numerous cousins whom she loved dearly.

Judy had just celebrated her 80th birthday with her family and friends which was a beautiful celebration of her vibrant life.  There may be a memorial gathering of family and close friends at a date to be determined. The family wishes to thank the Malvern community for embracing and welcoming Judy.

The family was assisted by J. A. Funk Funeral Home of Malvern, Arkansas.
