Obituary

Judy Carol Key Smith, age 52 of Malvern, died Thursday, February 21, 2008 in the National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs after a lengthy illness. She was born in Malvern on September 20, 1955 to Dorothy Dammann Key and the late Elgin Calvin Key. Reared and educated in Malvern, she was a homemaker and a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Benton. During a somewhat diverse working life, Judy had been a truck driver, a factory worker, and a waitress. She loved to go camping and to ride motorcycles. A doting mother of three, she also helped to rear, and remained close to, many other children in her immediate family.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Smith of Malvern, to whom she was married on October 25, 1982; by a son, Richard Jacob Smith, also of Malvern; by a daughter, Jessica Peeks of Seabrook, Texas; by her mother, Dorothy Key of Malvern; by a brother, Ronald C. "Ron" Key and his wife, Dyan of Magnet Cove; by a sister, Pamela Lee and her husband Charlie, of Malvern; and by seven grandchildren.

Judy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Desiree Moody, and by a brother, Michael Elgin Key.

A graveside service will be held on Monday afternoon February 25, 2008, at one o'clock, in the Resthaven Cemetery near Central, with Brother David Brewer officiating, and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

The family will be at their home, 165 Russellville Road in Malvern.

Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
