Obituary

Julia Greer Marshall, age 66 of Sheridan, died Monday, June 20, 2022, at her home after an extended illness.  She was born in Little Rock on January 10, 1956, to the late Lambert Lynn Marshall and Mary Elizabeth Greer Marshall.

Greer graduated from Malvern High School in 1973 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977 and a Masters' degree in Early Childhood Development   from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

She later received a teaching certification from the University of Central Arkansas and for 27 years she was an educator in the Sheridan School System teaching first grade. She loved teaching first graders and for many years stayed in touch with her former students as they progressed in their education and chosen careers.

Greer never met a stranger and was blessed with many friends whom she loved dearly. She had a loving spirit, a beautiful smile, and was an inspiration to many of her friends and family. Throughout her childhood, Greer was active in the youth program at The First United Methodist Church in Malvern. This was always an important and meaningful part of her life growing up.

Greer was very young when her father, Lambert, died tragically, but she kept his memory and spirit alive throughout her life.

Greer loved horses and her mother Elizabeth "Liz", later remarried J.C. Miller, another well-known Malvern businessman, and they owned a stable of several successful Thoroughbred racehorses. It was always a highlight of Greer's life when she, J.C., and Liz would go to Oaklawn and often experience the thrill of being in the winner's circle!

Greer is survived by her beloved children, Kelly Stephen Jennings, Jr. and Elizabeth Catherine Jennings, both of Sheridan, along with two grandchildren, Keaton Nickolas Jennings and Drew Alan Leopard, and her brother, Lynn (Julie) Marshall and their family of Little Rock.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of J.A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverend Andrew Orr officiating.
