Obituary

Kenneth Randall Parker, age 67 of Donaldson, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in Hot Springs. He was born on August 1, 1950 in Aurora, Colorado to the late Clyde Randall Parker and Ercelle Byrd Parker. Reared and receiving his early education in Sacramento, California, he graduated from Del Campo High School. Always furthering his education, he earned an Associate of Arts Degree from American River College in California; a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology from California State University in Sacramento; and a Diploma in Industrial Electronics from College of the Ouachitas in Malvern.

Ken was a professional musician, and played many instruments, including the fiddle, banjo, saxophone, harmonica, and clarinet. Over the years, he taught music to many children. An accomplished artist, he rendered beautiful pen and ink drawings and colorful paintings. He owned his own business for awhile, and also worked as a security guard at the Reynolds Metals plant in Jones Mill. Ken loved the Ouachita River, and he lived upon its banks.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Plummer Parker, to whom he was married on January 3, 1995; by his "bonus" children, Brian Collie and his wife, Melissa, and Stephanie Collie and her husband, Darrell Boles; by two "bonus" grandchildren, Matthew and Lucas Collie; a brother, John Parker (Angie) of San Jose, California; and aunt, Mary Sue Mathis of Sheridan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to any local animal shelter.
