Larry Allen Dill, age 65, of Malvern, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008. He was born in Searcy, Arkansas on March 29, 1943 to the late John S. and Lillian Watkins Dill. During his 28 years in law enforcement, he worked for the Little Rock Police Department, the Searcy Police Department, and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, where he spent his last twelve years of police work as Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division. He was a hero to many whom he helped during his career, and he received numerous awards and citations for his work. Larry served in the Arkansas National Guard from 1960 until 1968.

Following his retirement from law enforcement in 1995, Larry was employed at the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center for over nine years. After moving to Malvern in 2005, he worked on a part-time basis for Ouachita Technical College.

Major Dill was an honor graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he received his B.A. degree in criminal justice.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Dill. Larry is survived by his wife, Dianne Amis-Dill, to whom he was married on November 4, 1986; by his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Kerry Daulton; his son, David Dill; five grandchildren, Christopher, Dakota, and Tanner Daulton, and Anne-Marie and Christian Dill; a sister, Loretta Ashworth; a brother Billy Dill; many treasured friends; and the Misses Lulu and Birdie.

On Earth Larry loved his family and friends; animals (particularly puppies of all types and his Birmingham Roller Pigeons); sports; his garden; his guitar; good food; Alexander Graham Bell; old Westerns; his country; laughter; his affiliation with First Presbyterian Church of Malvern; and living life to the fullest. He waits for us now to join him on the other side of the bridge

> A memorial service will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, December 30, 2008 in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Carl McCormack officiating, and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.>
