Leo Wheatley, age 80, of Jack Mountain, died Saturday, May 14, 2016 at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. He was born on March 30, 1936 at Saginaw, the youngest boy of 16 children of the late William Lerah Wheatley and Jeffie White Wheatley. He was a 1954 graduate of Malvern High School. He married Barbara Cason on November 8, 1958. Leo was a child of God, and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church since 1987. He was a cattleman through and through, and loved to be around all the guys and talk cows.

He worked many years with Union Carbide Corporation in Hot Springs. After retirement, he formed Leo Wheatley Construction, Inc., and laid telephone cable for Central Arkansas Telephone Co-op, and made many friends over the years.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons, Wayne Wheatley of Hot Springs, Darryl Wheatley of New DeRoche; daughter, Debbie and her husband George Goodwin of Hickory Grove; sisters, Joan Efird and Alan of Malvern, Ladonna Mosier and Raymond of Plano, Texas; brother, William Earl Wheatley and Edith of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren, Jan Jenkins, Logan Jenkins, Rachel Ray, and Abby Wheatley; daughter-in-law, Karen Wheatley; sister-in-law Bonnie Wheatley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leo was also preceded in death by brothers Bill, J. C., and Raymond Wheatley; and sisters Winnie Lipe, Pauline Hollaway, Maxine Cruise, Virginia Winfield, Louise Chambers, Joyce Lawrence, and Ethel Ketchum.

Funeral services are 2:00 Monday afternoon, May 16, 2016 in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home, Malvern with Brothers Bernard Strother and Doyle Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Bayou Cemetery.

A visitation will precede the service, beginning at one o'clock.

Pallbearers are: George Goodwin, Larry Dyess, Larry Guin, Johnny Bolts, Bill Judd, and Bradley Hardin.
