Obituary

Lisa Ann Sampson, age 58 of Malvern, died Monday, August 1, 2016 in the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born on April 21, 1958 in Malvern, to the late Sam Sampson and Ann Wallis Sampson. Reared and receiving her early education in Malvern, she was very active in the school band program, and was a member of the 1976 Bi-Centennial Band of Arkansas that represented our state in Washington, D. C. Lisa graduated from Henderson State University with a BSE in Music Education. She taught choral music for 33 years, retiring just this year from the Dewitt Public School System. Lisa was a beloved citizen of Dewitt, and touched the lives of many students who remember all the good times spent in musical activities both in and outside of school. Lisa had been choral director for the Gillett United Methodist Church for a number of years. She was a member of the Dewitt First United Methodist Church, and was active in the chancel and handbell choirs.

Her survivors include her brother Ray Sampson of Malvern; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Lisa was also preceded in death by a son, Jonathon Sampson, and her grandparents, Doyle and Marie Wallis, and Fred and Frances Sampson.

A memorial service will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 at six o'clock at New Beginnings Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Myrick officiating.

A visitation will precede the service by one hour, beginning at five o'clock at the church.

Memorials gifts are requested to the choir of First United Methodist Church, Dewitt, Arkansas.
