Lola Cunningham McCray Kidd, age 79 of Malvern, died Sunday in Hot Springs . She was born in the Big Creek Community on September 30, 1929 to the late Gordon and Louisa Staggs Cunningham. Reared and receiving her early education in Poyen, she was a member of the state championship basketball team while in high school. She was licensed as a nurse in 1950 after graduating from the Leo N. Levi nursing program in Hot Springs . Lola later became a Nurse Practitioner, a career from which she retired in 2003 after 30 years of service. She was an avid bridge player, and attended St. Paul United Methodist Church . Lola was the widow of the late Dr. Raymond V. McCray and the late Benny Kidd.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Cunningham, William (Dick) Cunningham, and by four sisters, Ruby Lee Bankson, Louella Adams, Gladys Schakel, and Opal Ragland.Her survivors include a daughter Carol and her husband Claud Alan Davis of Malvern, a son, Vaughn and his wife Regina McCray of Springdale, Arkansas; two step-children, Kenneth and his wife Regina Kidd, and Kay and her husband Jerry Johnson of Texas; a brother, Glenn Cunningham of Apple Valley, California; two grandchildren, Katie and her husband Gerald Black, and Kelley Davis; step-grandchildren, Tonya Wages, Ethan Wages, Chris Kidd, and Toni Hammond; a great-grandchild, Davis Black; step-great-grandchildren, Keylan Wages, QuaNeishia Bohanon, and Danyelle Hammond.
The funeral will be Thursday morning, April 30, 2009, at ten o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverend James Batts officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from four-thirty until six o'clock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Paul United Methodist Church , Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale , Arkansas , or to the Hot Spring County Medical Center Foundation.
