Lori Voss, age 65 of Malvern, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 11, 2022, in Hot Springs after a brief illness.  She was born in Hot Springs on August 6, 1957, to the late J. D. Nix and Marie Ann Howard Nix.  Lori was a Registered Nurse and recently retired from the Area Agency on Aging as a coordinator.  While still a practicing nurse, she was instrumental in helping to establish the first hospice program at the Levi Hospital in Hot Spring in the 1990s.  In the 2000s, she was in charge of the osteoporosis clinic at Levi Hospital.  She was a 20-year cancer survivor.  Lori was a member of Fist Baptist Church of Malvern.  One of her 'missions' in life was to rescue starving kittens, which she considered her "babies".  As they matured, she saw to it that they were 'fixed'.  At the time of her passing, she left behind her five beloved toms: Bebee, Joey, C. J., Moogie, and Chigger.  They have searched high and low for their 'mom' since she left them last Friday, calling out to her with pitiful wails.

Lori leaves behind her husband, Dewayne 'Butch' Voss of Malvern, to whom she was married on May 23, 1978; her son, Jacob Voss of Arkadelphia; two grandsons, Aiden and Kai Voss; her sister, Robin Nix (Donnie Ault) of Hot Springs; a brother, Duke Nix (Julie) of Hot Springs; brother-in-law, Gary Bayless of Hot Springs; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patty Bayless and an uncle, James 'Dutch' Howard.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from five until seven o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
