Lynn Burnell Bray, age 82, of Malvern, died Monday, June 24, 2013 in the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock. He was born in Malvern on September 13, 1930 to the late Daniel Rhodes Bray and Addie Mae Whitley Bray. Reared and receiving his early education in Malvern, he later attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia. Burnell taught at Malvern Junior High School for a number of years before going to work for the J. C. Penney Company. He worked at the original store in downtown Little Rock. He was a United States Army veteran, having been stationed in Korea. Burnell was Primitive Baptist by denomination.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Lea Bray of Greenville, Texas.
Burnell was preceded in death by three brothers, Austin Jacob (Tuck) Bray, George Houston (Compound) Bray, and Bryson Harold Bray.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, June 28, 2013, at four o'clock, with Brother Todd Bray officiating. Private interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are: John Milan White, Faith Lindsey, Robert Jones, James Wetherington, Don Brashears, Herman Barnett, Horace McGuire, and Bob Darby.
