Marion Robertson Baskin, age 83 of Malvern, died Monday evening in the Hot Spring County Medical Center. She was born on July 21, 1924 in Gurdon, Arkansas to the late Herman and Ione Lagrone Robertson. Reared and receiving her early education in Gurdon, she was a graduate of Henderson State Teachers College (now Henderson State University). Marion was an elementary school teacher for 28 years. She taught at Gurdon, Smackover,and retired from the Malvern Public School System as a teacher at Fiels Elementary. She had been a resident of Malvern since 1953. Marion was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Malvern, where she attended the Friendship Sunday School Class, was very active in United Methodist Women, and volunteered for the Red Cross blood drive. She was an avid bridge player, loved to go antique hunting, and was a doting grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Baskin of Malvern, to whom she was married on June 6, 1948; by two sons, Jon Edward Baskin and his wife, Judy of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Dr. Barry Baskin and his wife, Druann, of Little Rock; and by four granddaughters, Clair Elise Baskin, Abby Nicole Baskin, Erin Allison Baskin, and Katherine Blair Baskin.
Marion was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Robertson.
A memorial service will be held at two o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, January 23, 2008 in the chapel of First United Methodist Church with Reverend Stephen Wingo officiating.
