Mary Lucy Scrimshire, known by all as Lucy, age 59 of Perla, Arkansas, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. She was born May 11, 1955 in Malvern to Woodard Scrimshire and the late Zoie Lee Scrimshire. She was the much-loved baby of the family, younger sister of Martha, Lewis, and Ann-the only one with her mother's blue eyes, and special in every way. Her greatest achievement was her daughter, Elizabeth, and one of her proudest moments was graduating alongside her from College of the Ouachitas. Lucy worked at COTO at the time of her death.

She was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joe and Lucy Scrimshire; and her maternal grandparents, Lee and Zoie Lowry.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Dickinson Adams and Chris of Malvern, and their children, Hunter and Fisher; her father Woodard Scrimshire of Malvern; her brother, Lewis Scrimshire (Judy) of Longmont, Colorado; sisters Martha Wade of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Ann Veach (Dan) of Little Rock; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially her Boss Hogg's family.

Lucy will be missed, but the last thing she would want is for us to cry. As Emmylou Harris said, "Animals have a much better attitude to life and death than we do. They know when their time has come. We are the ones that suffer when they pass, but it's a healing kind of grief that enables us to deal with other griefs that are not so easy to grab hold of."

So, friends and family of Lucy, we will miss her, but we can console ourselves with the thought that, though she is not with us, she has joined a joyful group whose party never ends. She will feel no more pain. She is at peace.

The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Friday evening, May 23 from six until seven o'clock, with a memorial service immediately following.

On Friday, the family will be headquartered at Woodard Scrimshire's residence, 1750 West Moline, apartment #6, prior to the visitation.
