Obituary

Mary Virginia Yancey, age 83, a lifetime Malvern resident, died Friday morning, February 28, 2014 in Little Rock. She was born in Malvern, on January 7, 1931 to the late Finner Samuel Jordan and Effie Ward Jordan. She graduated from the Central School as class valedictorian. Mary was first and foremost a loving wife and mother, bringing up six children. She also worked outside the home for the Meteor Journal and Malvern Graphics. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Dorman Yancey, to whom she was married on June 24, 1950 in Malvern; by her children, Jackie and her husband Jamey Smith of Little Rock, Terri Javert of Little Rock, Steven and his wife Shannon Yancey of Malvern, Barry and his wife Delana Yancey of Newport, Abbie and her husband Kelly Hogan of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Bruce and his wife Gay Yancey of Hot Springs; two sisters, Nancy Coney of Malvern, and Sue Littleton, of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, and her granddogs.

Mary was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Paul Jordan, a sister Bonnie Davis, and a grandson, Jordan Yancey.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2014 from two until four o'clock at J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held on Monday afternoon, March 3, 2014 at two o'clock in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Reverend David B. Wilson officiating.

Mary's family will be headquartered at the residence of Jackie and Jamey Smith, 2010 Grist Mill Road in Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Malvern/Hot Spring County Library.
