Miley Banks, age 92, of Malvern, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 in Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs. He was born in Reform, Arkansas on August 17, 1920 to the late E. M. Banks and Cynthia Curtis Banks. Reared and receiving his early education in Paron, Arkansas, he later attended both Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia. A hard worker from an early age, he was called "Hoss" by the people among whom he grew up. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War 2. For a number of years after the war, he was a diamond-core driller, seeking coal and uranium in the western United States. He returned to Malvern and owned a service station for years before working as a dump-truck driver. Miley was the husband of Joan Gephart Banks, to whom he was married on September 2, 1951 at the First United Methodist Church in Malvern.

He is survived by his wife, Joan, and by his daughters, Alison Harbour (Mike), and Vicki Carter (Doug); by six grandchildren, Jeremy Tull, Jesse Carter, Amy Bozeman, Jason Jester, Michael Harbour, and Stacy Doss; and by eight great-grandchildren.

Miley was also preceded in death by three brothers: his twin, Ollie "Pete" Banks, Lee Banks, and Odus Banks; and by a sister, Allie Banks Henry.

His funeral will be on Monday morning, July 15, 2013, at 10:30 in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverend LaVon Post officiating.

Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 9:30.
