Phillip Loughlin Caldwell, age 76, of Malvern, died Sunday evening, December 6, 2015. He was born on October 20, 1939 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to the late Judge John Clark Caldwell, Jr. and Christine Loughlin Caldwell. Reared and receiving his early education in Ardmore, he later attended Murray College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, and the University of Oklahoma. He was a SOONER through and through! Phil was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. He was a retired revenue officer for the Internal Revenue Service. Phil moved to Malvern in 2007 after purchasing the old Chamberlain house on Pine Bluff Street, becoming the fourth generation of the Caldwell family to reside in this city. His great-grandfather, James Monroe Caldwell, was Hot Spring County Judge at the time the Rockport Bridge was built across the Ouachita River in 1900.

He married his best friend and the love of his life, Nancy Brugman, a former Malvern resident, in 1959. She preceded him in death in 2003. They were the doting parents of two beautiful daughters, and enjoyed every moment of their lives together. Phil was an avid (to put it mildly) NASCAR fan, as indicated by his massive collection of memorabilia, and his regular attendance at NASCAR events, both far and near.

Phil is survived by his daughters, Kathy Pivarnik of Houston, Texas; Kimberly Thomas and her husband, Bill, of Dallas, Texas; brothers, John Clark Caldwell, III, of San Diego, California, and Dan Caldwell and his wife Kim, of Norman, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tim Wyatt, Sean Drown, William Thomas, and Sarah Thomas; and cousins, Nancy Anne Rowland Monroe, John Allan Funk, and James William Funk, Jr.

His funeral will be held in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, December 13, 2015 at three o'clock, with Reverend LaVon Post officiating. He will be interred in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
