Obituary

Richard Vernon Vialpando, age 70, of Malvern, died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at his residence. He was born on February 10, 1945 in Durango, Colorado to the late Joe R. Vialpando and Cordelia Lister Vialpando. Reared and educated in Colorado and Texas, he joined the United States Army and, during his service, became a sharpshooter. He suffered a debilitating stroke early in his adulthood, but maintained his independence until the end of his life. He was a Catholic.

Richard is survived by four children, Page Vialpando of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Shane Vialpando of Oklahoma, Wanda Grant of El Paso, Texas, and Melissa Vialpando of Colorado; three sisters, Gail Gilley of Carthage, Arkansas, Jacqueline Vialpando of Washington, D. C., and Denise Vialpando of El Paso, Texas; a nephew, Jimmy A. Gilley, a niece, Jessica Felks, and several grandchildren, great-nephews, and great-nieces, and a great-great-niece.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Donna Fiddie.

A graveside service will be held in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at ten o'clock in the morning. .
