Robert A. Gray, Jr. age 60 of Benton, died at his home Monday morning, June 18, 2007. He was born on May 23, 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert A. and Rose Maurer Gray. Reared and receiving his early education in Pennsylvania, he moved to Houston, Texas and attended the University of Texas for five years studying radio and television. He realized that his real interest was law enforcement and graduated from the Houston Police Academy Class #45 on October 9, 1970. He spent the next 28 years with the Houston Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant in 1998.

He was a Presbyterian, a member of the Saline County Search and Rescue Team, and the Houston Police Retired Officers Association.He is survived by his wife, Tommie Hill Pittman Gray of Benton, Arkansas, to whom he was married on October 30, 2003 in Hot Springs, Arkansas; by a step-son Jason Pittman and his wife Kelly, of Lonetree, Iowa, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Pittman, also of Lonetree. He leaves behind many dear friends across Canada and Australia.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Mr. Gray's residence, 14871 Highway 5 North, in Benton, Arkansas with Reverend Jason Pittman officiating.Memorials are requested to the Saline Memorial Hospice, #1 Medical Park Drive, Benton, Arkansas 72015, or to Heifer International.
