Ruby Jean Toler, age 90 of Malvern, died Friday, December 19, 2014. She was born on June 5, 1924 to the late Bruce Phillips and Rozilla Bailey Phillips. Reared and educated in Hot Spring County, she was affectionately known as "Shine" as a youngster. Ruby Jean was a homemaker and the widow of the late Murry B. Toler, to whom she was married on October 19, 1946 in the sanctuary of First Methodist Church, Malvern. He preceded her in death in 2007. She enjoyed cooking for her family and kept beautiful flower gardens. Ruby Jean loved being in her home and kept it immaculately. She was a faithful member, for 67 years, of First United Methodist Church. For the past three years, she had resided at Malvern Nursing and Rehab, and the family expresses their thankfulness for the loving care given their mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Toler Grigsby of Malvern, and Cindy Toler Hale of West Monroe, Louisiana; by a son, David "Pud" Toler of Malvern; by five grandchildren, Amanda Renteria, John Murry Grigsby, Kimberly Hearne, Brittney Baker, and Andrea Hassell; and by 10 great-grandchildren.
Ruby Jean was also preceded in death by her son, Phillip Toler, by three brothers and two sisters.
Her funeral will be at two o'clock Monday afternoon, December 22, 2014 in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverend LaVon Post officiating. Visitation will precede the service by one hour, beginning at one o'clock. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery.
Memorials are requested to First United Methodist Church.
