Shane Northcutt, age 30 of Malvern, died Sunday morning, February 14, 2010. He was born on July 19, 1979 in Hot Springs to Stephen and Olivia Cooper Northcutt. Reared and receiving his early education in Malvern, he graduated Malvern High School in 1997. He was an outstanding athlete while at MHS, excelling in baseball, and was a member of the Senior Babe Ruth League. Shane attended Henderson State University , the University of Arkansas at Little Rock , Ouachita Technical College , and the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Phoenix , Arizona . A talented musician, Shane had been lead guitarist for several local bands, and also wrote songs. He was currently a tattoo artist for Spa City Ink in Hot Springs .

He is survived by his father, Mayor Stephen Northcutt of Malvern; his mother, Olivia Cooper Northcutt, of Malvern; his brother, Rex Oswalt of Hot Springs ; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Northcutt of Little Rock; a niece and nephew, Evan Hollingshead and Farah Oswalt, and by a special nephew that was as close as a brother to him, Aaron Hollingshead.

Shane was preceded in death by a sister, Tracy Northcutt, and by his maternal grandparents, E. O. and Ressie Cooper.

His funeral will be held at ten o'clock Thursday morning, February 18, 2010 in the sanctuary of Third Baptist Church with Brother Mark Northcutt officiating, assisted by Brother Thomy Green.

Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home of Malvern.

Pallbearers will be: Nick Williams, Justin Riley, Ryan Brown, Robbie Crenshaw, Timmy Hampton, and Zack Powell.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Malvern Police Department.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from five until seven o'clock.
