Shannon Kay Jackson, age 46, of Malvern, died Sunday, July 16, 2017 in the CHI St. Vincent Health Center in Hot Springs. She was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on May 17, 1971 to Fred Jackson and Kay Hood Jackson. She was a 1989 graduate of Malvern High School. Shannon later attended Henderson State University, Garland County Community College, and received her Bachelor in Medical Technology from UAMS. For many years, she worked as a medical technologist at National Park Medical Center, Saline Memorial Hospital, and Baptist Health Medical Center, Malvern. Shannon was a member of Antioch Assembly of God Church. She was an avid animal lover, giving her unwavering support to the local Stop Animal Cruelty organization. She also loved to grow flowers, make jewelry, and watch movies.
She is survived by her parents, Fred and Kay Jackson of Malvern; her brother Patrick Jackson of Benton; uncles and aunts, Cliff and Gayle Jackson, Verline Montgomery, Ervinline Breashears, Jerry and Loretha Hood, Ray and Ann Hood, Bob and Dixie Hood, Ronald Hood, Wayne Hood, Helen Warren, and Joyce and Lee Bonner.
Shannon was also preceded in death on April 5, 2017, by her pup, Doug, who for 14 years was her loving and constant companion; her grandparents, Elbert and Annie Jackson, and Ervin and Flossie Hood; by her three uncles, Cecil, James, and J. B. Hood, and an aunt, Josephine Crawford.
Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, July 19, 2017 from six until eight o'clock at J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
The funeral will be on Thursday morning at ten o'clock in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Mike Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the Lower Antioch Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Larry Beason, Curtis Breashears, Mark Morgan, Bryan Carpenter, Ricky Hood, Troy Teague, Wesley Carpenter, and Clinton Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers are: Becky Norman, Pam (Sissy) Boxer, Helen Warren, Melissa Morgan, Suzie Dater, Lualee Stockler.
