Shelley Kay Arivette, age 55, of Malvern, died Wednesday evening, May 26, 2010 in St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs. She was born in Malvern on February 26, 1955 to the late Curtis Woodrow and Catherine McMains Buie. Reared and educated in Magnet Cove, Shelley was a member of the Butterfield Missionary Baptist Church. She was in law enforcement for nearly 30 years, having worked as a Deputy Sheriff in North Little Rock, Malvern/Hot Spring County, and for the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #27. Shelley was fond of knitting and crocheting, and was an avid fan of casino playing.

She is survived by her husband, Eddie Arivette, to whom she was married on January 29, 1982 in Gifford; by her children, Tracy and her husband Adam Standridge of Bauxite, and Matthew Arivette of Malvern; her siblings, Evelyn Smith of Indianapolis, Indiana, Terry Buie and his wife Sandy of Russellville, Arkansas, Phil Buie of Sandy, Oregon, and Tony Buie of Malvern; her grandchildren, Dylan and Lily Standridge, and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Shelley was also preceded in death by a sister, Treva Buie House.

Her funeral will be eleven o'clock Saturday morning, May 29, 2010 in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Gary Self officiating. Interment will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville with an Honor Guard from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department.

Pallbearers will be: Deputy Jimmy Carter, Deputy Chad Lucas, and Deputy Tracy Allen with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department; Sergeant Harold Marable, Saline County Sheriff's Department; Chief Joe Paul Owens, Perla Police Department; and Lieutenant Dana Bowers0, North Little Rock Police Department.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. Marianne Harrington, Dr. Woltering, Dr. Anthony and Maria; the PUCO Sheriff's Department; Adam Standridge; and the Arkansas Hospice staff at St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from six until eight o'clock.
