John Anthony "Tony" Strauss, age 88 of Malvern, died Thursday evening, April 9, 2026, in Hot Springs. He was born in Malvern on September 30, 1937, to the late Thomas Jackson Strauss and Kathryn Heath Strauss. Reared and receiving his early education in Malvern, he later received his bachelor's degree from Texas A & M. Tony worked for Reynolds Metals Company for 30 years. He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Malvern, and served as church treasurer or many years. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Tony was a member and past president of the Jonquil Society and the Iris Society, and was a model train buff. Tony tied for first place with his brother, Stephen, as the Best Strauss Ever. The rest of them came in last. He was also instrumental in coordinating the delivery routes for the first 10 Community Holiday Meals.
Tony is survived by his cousins, Ed Strauss, IV; Scott Strauss, Linda Watson, Danny Watson, Betty Teague, Greg Thornton, Margaret Fleming, and Susan Payne.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Strauss.
His funeral will be on Sunday afternoon, April 12, 2026, at three o'clock, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, Malvern, with Reverend Courtney Bacon-Latina officiating, and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
A visitation will precede the service, beginning at two o'clock.
