Velma Lance Bailey, age 60 of Malvern, died Tuesday night in Hot Springs. She was born on October 4, 1946 in Malvern to the late Edgar H. and Artie Beatrice Hendrix Lance. Reared and receiving her early education in Malvern, she later studied nursing in Texas. She became a Certified Nurses Assistant and worked for a number of years at the Arkansas Health Center in Benton, and at Saline Memorial Hospital. Velma was a member of the Church of God.

She is survived by a son, Marcus Beauchamp and his wife Debra of Malvern; by a daughter, Susan Bailey of Malvern, a sister, Wanda Burley, also of Malvern, and by a niece, Lisa Miller Duffy. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harlan Lance, Dan Lance, and D. W. Lance, and by a sister, Alice Lance Miller.

A graveside service will be held on Friday morning, June 22, 2007 at ten o'clock, in the Old Lutheran Cemetery off Sulphur Springs Road with Brother Darrell Kennedy officiating.The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Thursday evening from six until eight o'clock.
