Obituary

Vera Faye Bass, age 87 of Malvern, died Thursday, October 25, 2018 at her home. She was born in Pine Valley, Oklahoma on December 31, 1930 to the late Henry D. Cox and Rhoda Mae Holcomb Cox. The eldest daughter of a coal miner and logger, she worked on the family farm as a young girl. She worked for an engineering/construction firm as secretary and administrator for a number of years prior to moving back to Malvern in 1989. The most important things in her life were God and family, which meant everything to her. She was active in her church, and sang in the choir at First Assembly of God in Malvern. An accomplished quilter, she also loved art and painting. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James E. Bass of Malvern, to whom she was married on August 5, 1949 in Hot Springs; three children, Carl Bass of Malvern, Charlotte Bell and her husband, Bryon, of Carthage, Missouri, and Connie Rapp and her husband Peter of Malvern; five grandchildren, Sheri Ornelas, Lori Crumpton, Brianna Turner, Travis Rapp, and Emily Rapp; and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom Cox of California, and a sister, Patsy Moore of West Virginia.

Faye was also preceded in death by a sister, Lynda Fields, and four brothers, Elmer, Charles, William, and Larry Cox.

Graveside services will be held on Monday morning, October 29, 2018 at eleven o'clock in the Lone Hill Cemetery at Oak Grove with Brother Jimmy Bobo officiating.
