Obituary

Mr. Virgil C. Fite, age 99, of Malvern, died Thursday morning, December 19, 2013 at the Arbor Oaks Healthcare and Rehab. He was born in the Round Hill Community, Dallas County, on December 12, 1914 to the late Andrew Hunter Fite and Annie Jane Lemons Fite. Reared and educated in Dallas County, he was a United States Army veteran of World War 2. For most of his working life, he was a carpenter, and had also worked at weighing trucks at the local gravel washer. Mr. Fite was a member of the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Ederington Fite, to whom he was married on September 4, 1948 in El Dorado; by his daughter, Barbara Fite Baker of Malvern, by his step-grandson, John Baker of Waynesboro, Tennessee; and by four nephews and two nieces.

Mr. Fite was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Don Baker; his brothers, William, Henry, Floyd, and Jesse Fite; and his sisters, Mary Nix, Katie Porterfield, Dollie Hargett, and Lucille Lemons.

His funeral will be at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, December 22, 2013 in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Jesse Stripland officiating. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Tony Fite, Nick Fite, David Fite, Cecil Nutt, Mark White, and George Baker.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
