Obituary

Virginia M. Lederer, age 88 of Malvern, died Sunday, February 19, 2023 in Hot Springs.  She was born on May 18, 1934 in Gassville, Arkansas to the late Clifton R. Morris and Ruth Conley Morris.  Reared and receiving her early education in Mt. Home, she had been a resident of Malvern since 1988.  Virginia graduated  from the Arkansas Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1955, becoming a Registered Nurse.  She served in the United States Air Force Nurses Corp from 1963 until her discharge in 1977.  She was a Viet Nam veteran.  After her service to her country, she worked at The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for seven years, and retired from the John L. McClellan Veterans Administration Hospital.  Virginia was a member of First Baptist Church in Malvern, and attended the Ruth Sunday School Class.  She was the widow of the late Fred Lederer, to whom she was married on May 14, 1988.  He preceded her in death on December 30, 2012.

She is survived by two step-sons, Robert Lederer (Bettie) of Hazen, Arkansas, and Roger Lederer (Teresa) of Malvern; foster daughter, Cassandra Reyes of Houston; four step grandchildren, Amanda, Amy, Tara, and Brandi; three foster grandchildren, Kiaya, Eli and Jesse; six step-great-grandchildren, Kody, Kayden, Brysen, Ezra, Korea, and Tameah; two step-great-great-grandchildren, William and Zayvier; and two nephews, Ralph Winter and Clifton Winter.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 25, 2023 at two o'clock in the chapel of J.A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Billy Bartlett officiating.  A visitation will precede the service, beginning at one o'clock.

Her ashes will be interred in Conley Cemetery in Mt. Home at a later date.
