W. W. "Bub" Shryock, age 92 of Malvern, died Friday morning, August 27, 2010, at his home. He was born on July 28, 1918 in Clarendon, Arkansas to the late Dr. L. G. and Mary Elizabeth Renneker Shryock. His Uncle Charley Shryock named him "Bub" prior to his birth, and it stuck. Reared and receiving his early education in Clarendon and Brinkley, he later attended Memphis Optical School. Bub married Charlene Sims in Little Rock on January 25, 1940. They moved to Malvern in July of that year and set up housekeeping. They owned and operated Shryock's Jewelers on Main Street for over 60 years. Throughout the years, Bub had been a member of every civic club in Malvern. He was currently the longest serving member of the Malvern Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Bub was a charter member of the Malvern Country Club, and was a Mason and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. First United Methodist was his church, and he was a charter member of its John Lindsay Sunday School Class. He was also an avid bridge player.

Bub was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlene; by a granddaughter Keri Shryock; and by eight siblings: Joe, Woody, Agnes, Marie, Betty, L. G., Bill, and Alf.

He is survived by two sons, Chuck Shryock and his wife, Vickie of Malvern and Paul Shryock and his wife, Lana of Sylvania, Ohio; by his grandsons, Christopher Shryock of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and William Shryock and his wife Rhonda of Toledo, Ohio; by his granddaughters, Sean and her husband Greg Vardaman of Arkadelphia, and Sydney and her husband Tim Ezell of Maumelle; and by seven great-grandchildren, Hadley, Drew, and Will Ezell, Alex Muncrief, Ethan and Eva Shryock, and Emma Vardaman.

A visitation will be held at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, August 29, 2010 from one until three o'clock. A private family graveside service will be in the Rockport Cemetery.
