Obituary

Walter K. Funk (Walt), age 76, of Rolla, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at his home. He was born at Rolla on September 28, 1939 to the late E. B. Funk and Maudie Sulton Funk. Reared and receiving his early education in Lono and Malvern, he was an accountant, specializing in personal and corporate taxes. He also raised and showed prize goats, and helped many young people learn about livestock. Walt was a Christian. He served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his children, Delores Wingo and Janet Medlin (Trent) all of Malvern; one sister, Ophelia Versteegh of Katy, Texas; five grandchildren, Joey Nelson, Dr. Chris Nelson, Dylan Wingo, Trace Medlin, and Amber Medlin; and four great-grandchildren.

Walt was also preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Funk, and a sister, Vernell Rood.

His funeral will be on Wednesday afternoon, October 28, 2015, at two o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Scott Efird officiating. Interment will follow in Lono Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from five until seven o'clock at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are: Doug Young, Jesse Clark, James Stinnett, Carroll Buck, Ron Hurst, and Bennie Chastain.
