William T. "Bill" Hendrix, age 66, of Malvern, died early Sunday morning, October 21, 2007 at his home. He was born on December 8, 1940 in Hot Spring County to the late Rupert and Dorothy Keisler Hendrix. Reared and receiving his early education in Hot Spring County, he attended the Fairview Elementary School and graduated from Malvern High School. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and Henderson State Teachers College (Henderson State University). Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Viet Nam. While serving his country, Bill received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. During his career, Bill was involved in several different aspects of the insurance industry. He became an adjuster and was the owner of Southern Adjusting Company. Before coming back to Malvern, Bill lived for 35 years in Pine Bluff. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Malvern, where he had served on several boards and committees. Bill was active in the 4H Clubs and the FFA, and helped organize the Fordyce, Arkansas Little League. He was a history buff and donated to the Hot Spring County Courthouse pictures of all 75 Arkansas countys Court Houses.

He is survived by his wife, Johnette Wallace Johnson Hendrix of Malvern, to whom he was married on March 24, 2007, by a daughter, Trisha Ann Sparks of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; by a son, Travis Hendrix of Frisco, Texas; by four brothers, Morton and his wife Mary Hendrix of Capistrano Beach, California, Maurice Hendrix of Malvern, Bob and his wife Karen Hendrix of Pittsburg, Texas, and Lew and his wife Kathy Hendrix of Makanda, Illinois. He is also survived by three step-sons,Micheal, James Mark, and Mark Curtis Johnson, one step-daughter, Gail Johnson, four grandchildren, three step-grandsons, five step-granddaughters, seven step-great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Olivia Pierce.

His funeral will be held at the graveside in the Old Lutheran Cemetery on Wednesday morning, October 24, 2007, at ten o'clock, with the Reverend Dooley Fowler officiating.

Pallbearers will be: A. J. Roberson, Gleason McGuire, Dallas Lewter, Jack McCoy, Ronnie Jones, Eddie States, and Calvin Erwin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Harold Bailey, Harold Johnson, Phyllis Butler, Martha Rice, Dean Paul, Sammy Ledbetter, and all his Fairview Elementary School classmates.

The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from five until seven o'clock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4-H Clubs, or the organization of your choice.
