William Eugene "Gene" Fenter, age 88, of Malvern, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at his home. He was born on October 30, 1928 in Fenter, Arkansas to the late William David Fenter and Hattie Mae Womble Fenter. After graduating from Poyen High School, Gene enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1948, was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska for two years, and served in the Korean War. After serving his country for four years, he returned home to Fenter, Arkansas, and married Louise M. Otwell on December 19, 1952. Gene began his electrical career, and in 1964 started his own business, Fenter Electric Company. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and camping with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Louise Fenter of Malvern; a daughter, Sandra L. Fenter Wilson and son-in-law, Gary, of Diamondhead; a son, Cliff E. Fenter of Malvern; a grandson, Justin E. Fenter of Malvern; two great-grandsons, Aiden J. Fenter and Kavence A. Fenter; a sister, Fay D. Fenter Jones of Malvern; two brothers-in-law, Leon Otwell and Doyle Otwell of Malvern, and many nieces and nephews.

Gene was also preceded in death by a sister, Floy E. Fenter, and a much loved nephew, Brian Otwell.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday afternoon, February 7, 2017 at one o'clock with funeral services following at two o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Fikes officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Leon Otwell, Doyle Otwell, Michael Otwell, Jason Otwell, Bruce Wingo, and Ralph Williams.
