William John Harrington, III, age 61, of Malvern, died Saturday evening at his home. He was born in Morrilton, Arkansas on June 30, 1947 to the late Lt. Col. William John, Jr. and Melissa Ann Fiser Harrington. Reared and receiving his early education in England and France, he received his Bachelor's degree from Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Alabama, his Master's degree from the University of Southern California, and an engineering degree from Colorado Technical College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bill had worked as a quality assurance engineer for a biomedical company. He had also worked for ALCOA, at the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record feeding the newspaper to the web, and operated his own videography business. Bill was a US Army veteran, serving in Viet Nam, where he received two Bronze Stars. He had been a resident of Malvern since 2004 and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. For a number of years he taught catechism in church and organized Bible studies. Bill was a guitar player and loved to sing blues and folk songs with his family and friends. He also enjoyed working outside.

He is survived by his wife, Georgine McCay Harrington of Malvern, to whom he was married on May 28, 1977 in Colorado Springs, Colorado; by six step-children, DeeAnn Afra of Larkspur, California, Laura Masset of Corte Madera, California, Patricia Masset of Stuart, Florida, Kathleen Masset of Los Angeles, Steven Masset and his wife Dena of Pueblo, Colorado and Charles Masset and his wife, Karen of Monroe, Washington; by two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Blanca Harrington of Atlanta, Georgia, and James and Constance Harrington of Stanton, Virginia; by three grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, and Nicholas; and by a nephew and niece, Jamie and Kate Harrington.

There will be a vigil service on Thursday, April 16, at six o'clock in the evening at J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Deacon Pete Markwald as officiant. The memorial mass will be on Friday morning at ten o'clock at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Malvern with Father Linus Ukomadu officiating.
