William N. Overton, age 71 of Malvern, died Thursday evening, March 10, 2011 in the St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock . He was born in Traskwood , Arkansas on April 14, 1939 to the late William Jewell and Ruth Oakes Overton. Reared and educated in Hot Spring County, he was a carpenter by trade. An outdoorsman, Bill loved to hunt and fish, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed working in his shop. He belonged to the Pentecostal church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Penix Overton of Malvern, to whom he was married on June 5, 1956 in Traskwood; a son, William J. Overton of Malvern; three daughters, Norma Jean Freeman of Malvern, Connie Sue Schaffer of Gloucester, Virginia, and Penny Dianne Inglis of Bryant; three sisters, Pearl Tucker of Mena, Martha Hunter of Rockport, and Elsie Bradshaw of Benton; four brothers, Joel and Herman Overton of Malvern, Jimmy Overton of Haskell, and Paul Overton of Central; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Bill was also preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Overton, and three brothers, Mike, Reuben, and Richard Overton.

Graveside services at Traskwood Cemetery will be Wednesday morning, March 16, 2011 at eleven o'clock with Brother Jerry Garrett officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from six until eight o'clock.
