William Postelle
"Willie" Mitchell
Feb 10, 1948 — Mar 6, 2025
Malvern
William Postelle "Willie" Mitchell, age 77, of Malvern, was restored and made whole again as he entered the presence of his Lord, on Thursday evening, March 6, 2025. Willie was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on February 10, 1948 to the late William H. "Pat" Mitchell and Catherine Hawthorne Mitchell. Growing up and receiving his early education in Malvern, Willie worked for Entergy for over 30 years. While stationed in Russellville at Nuclear One, he met the love of his life, Gail Grimes. They were married on December 1, 1974, and just celebrated their 50 year anniversary. He was a very giving person, and always put others first. A man of few words, his faith was displayed by his actions. He loved the outdoors, liked anything to do with trains, and spent much time "tinkering". Willie doted on his wife and daughter. He was a true friend and will be missed by those closest to him. Willie attended The Church in Malvern.
He leaves behind his wife, Gail, of the home, and his daughter, Ashley Mitchell of Holiday Island, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.
A visitation will begin at 1:00 on Thursday afternoon, March 13, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 2:00, all in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Harley Petty. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Alpe, Randy Ervin, Mark Hawthorne, Chris Alston, Michael Watkins, Jay Wallace, Brent Pearce, and Dean Lock.
Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Hawthorne, Jesse Rucker, Darryel Massey, Roger Lederer, Adam Alston, and Mike Hawthorne.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church in Malvern; or to any organization that funds research for dementia related illness.
